Letter to My Sister

HI Stacy! Hope Heaven is treating you well.  We sure miss you here on earth.  I am sure you are watching us daily, but just in case you are missing the finer details let me fill you in on your kids.  They, just like me, miss you.  We all wish that tomorrow was a day of celebration not a day of remembrance.  But I guess we should celebrate that you are not in pain anymore and that all three of yours children are being well taken care of. Hey did you hear that I am FINALLY getting married?  You would totally like the guy.  He's so great.  He's a big goofball like me but very loyal, caring and helpful.  He treats us all with respect and has only the best intentions when it comes to the kids.  We will rock this parenting thing together.  These kids will have an additional person to fill them up with love. So what have you missed in the last 5 years?  Unfortunately a lot.  It makes me sad sometimes to remember what t...

Dear Teenager,

These will seem like the hardest years of your life, and well they might very well be but you will get through them.  My heart sends these words to you:  You are cherished and not a mistake.  Regardless of how you are treated, what lies are told to you or about you.  No matter the mistakes you’ve made or how bad your past has been.  Your past is not your present. Your past is not your present even though you might believe that it is. Who you were and what you might have done does not necessarily equate to who you are now or who you can be.  God has a plan for you.  Life can be “bad” but God is ALWAYS good.  Every day is a new chance to get life right.  God made you for a purpose. You are unique:   There is no one on earth that can ever compare to you.  Never compare yourself to another person.  Never compare your messy insides to other people’s cleaned up outsides. You are loved for you, not who you think you need to be...

It Is That Simple

He's always there

At the day, I am reflecting on how often we don't see God in our lives but he's always there and has been. As I currently find myself the mother of two ADHD kids,  I look back and NOW see clearly why things have happened as they did.  If I never left advertising for teaching, I would have some of the knowledge I have on ADHD, Autism or Learning Disabilities.  I wanted to help families become advocates for their kids. To help them find better ways to relate, teach and understand how differently their child's brain works.  Now I am that parent struggling to give their child the best foundation they can without giving them the negative repetitive voices in their heads saying they are just bad, always make bad decisions, needs to control themselves. I opened a box of books today and there on top was a college text book on ADHD.  God, I love how you weave the web of my life together daily.

Choices...

Image
The funny thing about "CHOICES" is we all think that we are FREE to make them. However, once you've made a choice you open yourself up to many things.  Consequences, judgment, gossip and a host a may other non positive things.  Yes, your CHOICES can also bring benefits, praise, happiness and a whole slue of other positive things.  Either way CHOICES don't come totally free. Today, June 26th 2015, the Supreme Court of the United States of America says that same-sex marriage are to be recognized and performed in all 50 states.  Many people feel that this is a strike against the church and that we must fight harder that God would be so ashamed of this ruling.  I've even ran across a few articles claiming to know how Jesus would respond to the news of the day.  I for one,  will not now or ever pretend to know how Jesus would respond or what he's say.  I am not Jesus and not even slightly worthy of his love and grace, but g...

Trust

In July of 2012 - my sister and husband entrusted me with the lives of their 3 children.  Though it did not work out that way in the end, it is still incredible to me that someone believed in me that much.  This last year has taught me that without God in our lives we would be lost.  That my sister knew that it wasn't just trust she had for me, it was faith in me and in what God was telling her.  Who am I to second guess that?   Though being a single mom can be trying at times, lonely or hard...it is the most rewarding and only worth while thing I have done with my life. I'm not looking for praise and recognition from the world my peers or anyone.  I am doing what I know God put me on earth to do.  Raise this little soul to love God, her family and to treat everyone with respect.  To show her that life isn't always what we planned or wanted, but we can overcome anything with him by our side.  That loss is hard but not impossible to get past....
