Monday last real day of vacation (this month)
My parents got up nice and early. Gosh sometimes I miss those days when my mom would sleep in until way after 10am. Oh well up and ready for the day. Breakfast at the hotel then off to site see. First stop the Craigdarroach Castle. A historical caste built in 1820. Very pretty and well preserved. Sadly the man that commissioned the castle for his family died before it was even done. It has also been a military hospital during WWII and a College. They had a great view and tons of great items to show how the house might have looked when someone lived there. We sat and waited to the bus to come for about 20 minutes. Felt like a typical Monday waiting on a train, but thank goodness was not at work.
We will head from here to Gatsby Mansion for High Tea. From what I was told not the place where the Great Gatsby novel was written, lol more trivial knowledge for my head to store. High Tea was yummy, kind of fun too. We each got to pick our own flavor tea and got our own teapots. I got Orange pekoe, mom got raspberry and Dad got (as he mentioned later) Jean Luke Bicard's favorite Earl grey. They even made my sandwiches on gluten free bread and though I could not eat the awesome looking scones they made me a special dessert - flourless chocolate cake. It was so beyond good. Mom thinks I am good entertainment and dad said it is nice to have someone else to talk too, I'm good company. Lol You know I tell myself that all the time too.
We hopped back on the bus and continued site seeing. We've seen so much and it really is pretty here. St. Andrew's cathedral was beautiful. The stained glass windows were amazing. Such a peaceful place. I was able to use the restrooms there and found the funniest thing. A sign that said flush FULL if you use toilet paper. Flush HALF if you don't. Umm gross. Lol
So I have seen only one McDonalds and one Subway but no other fast foods place familiar to us. However, just like CA there is a Starbucks on almost every corner. Guess they are hooked on that stuff too. Victoria is a very environmentally conscious place. They have recycle cans all over pretty much every few corners next to the regular trash cans. What a great idea, but of course CA probably does not have money to do something like that.
For our last dinner in Canada, we went to a great steakhouse. The steaks melt in your mouth steaks and the meal included garlic/horseradish whipped potatoes. Dinner would not have been complete without the "I'm gonna sneeze" full wine glass spill by mom. Along with a small uninvited guest. Mighty "you cant catch me" Mouse started running around the dining room in front of us. We giggled and the staff got flushed, they were so embarrassed. We got free sorbet.
Though I was ensured my dinner was gluten free I can tell you it was not. My poor parents have to pay for their contamination of my food...with contaminated air. Hahaha
Remember if it is unladylike, fattening or fun, it must be good for you!
Ta ta for now
